Literacy rate in Uttarakhand is 72.28% which is higher than the national literacy rate. The Urban areas are having a bit of higher literacy rate as comparatively rural areas. Today there 81.5% of urban literacy rate counts, where as 69.95% literacy rate for rural areas. Consolidation of literacy rate amongst men and women, there total 84.01% of male are literate as approximately 60.26% females are literate which is seems a bit of down rate against males. To achieve 95% literacy rate, Uttarakhand is working on a tri-fold strategy.
